The Meadow Flower flimsy is finished! This more than completes my One Monthly Goal, which was to get started on an EPP (English Paper Piecing) project. This also completes a project from my 2021 WOOFA list.
This was my first ever EPP project so I wanted to do something relatively simple so I could get the hang of it. I really enjoyed working on this project so I am definitely going to do more EPP projects. It's wonderful to have something to work on when I'm out of the house.
Even though I wanted this as a project primarily for when I was off doing things outside of the home, I have to admit I did work on it fairly often while I was at home. It was a fun project and once I only had 4 blocks left to finish, it was too difficult to resist the lure of finishing before the end of the month.
The flower block is from BlockBase+ (#4143) and is called Meadow Flower. According to BB+, it was originally published by the Old Chelsea Station Needlecraft Service in the 1930s. I exported the SVG file from BB+ and cut it out on my new Cricut Maker, so it was super easy to make this project.
I love this, that black really makes all the colors pop but I especially love the way your green looks against it. Like a good book, I understand how this would be hard to put down.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I had fun playing with the fabric stash to pick colors that coordinated with that wild floral print.
DeleteYou did a fantastic job on this one... all the colours go together really well. Congrats on your WOOFA challenge this month too. xox
ReplyDeleteThanks Chryll. I think I had a pretty good month.
DeleteWell done. I take my hat off to you, as I wouldn’t have the patience to do that much EPP. I love the rich colours. Now to decide what EPP project you will start next.
ReplyDeleteI've already picked one out and am working on prepping for it. It's a little more advanced, but not too much. =)
DeleteYour Meadow Flowers top looks great! Congratulations on such a lovely WOOFA success.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Your birdhouse quilt is amazing!
DeleteHow pretty - and that border fabric is just perfect for your quilt!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I actually started with the border fabric and picked fabrics that matched it.
DeleteWhat a beautiful quilt, Sharon and I loved reading the history of the block so interesting. Your border fabric is perfect. Have a blessed weekend and thank you so much for visiting my blog. I look forward to visiting yours in the future as a new follower. Happy quilting
ReplyDeleteThanks Melisa. I've enjoyed watching your projects for a while.
DeleteLovely. Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and congratulations on your finish!
ReplyDeleteThank you Patty. And thanks for hosting the OMG link up. It's helped me make decisions about what to work on.
DeleteCongratulations on complete your OMG and your EPP (I had to look that one up).
ReplyDeleteThanks! I was really happy to get a finish this month.
DeleteWhat a beautiful quilt with gorgeous colors and I really love that pattern. How neat that you used a fabric purposed for square dance clothes!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I had enough for the backing too. I'm happy to finally find a good project for it.
DeleteGood for you for meeting your monthly goal! [Insert fist bump here!]
